“Let the road take you where you go. And then, after that, apply some strategy to it,” is the advice of many creatives.

As a professional, are you ready to let your creativity lead you to new and exciting places?

Naturally, we are all curious, and at the end of the day, this curiosity is ignited by a keen interest in not going into the world with a prescribed path but letting things instead take us where they wish. When you go into the world with this mindset, simply seeking to see and learn more, you have what is often known as a “beginner’s mindset.”

We must learn to embrace uncertainty to allow ourselves to embrace ambiguity. When we can do this, we can truly begin to allow creativity to flow. Maybe you’ve heard the saying, “magic only happens when we let things lead us to the unexpected.” When we embrace creativity, we embrace this very idea. We allow ourselves to accept new cultures, concepts, and ideas. Through exploration, we find ourselves in new places experiencing things beyond ourselves.

By now, you’re likely asking yourself, “how do we learn to cultivate this new creative form of thinking?” Let’s explore some crucial tips together.

Three Tips for Cultivating Creative Thinking

Sharing & Collaboration

Together, we can learn the value of sharing culture, stories, and traditions. Today, we have technologies that allow us to connect with people all over the world. Through platforms like Google and Clubhouse, we have the opportunity to learn from vast communities and share our experiences and knowledge. We can share recipes, unlock secrets, and so much more within a mere instance.

These tools guide us in understanding and accepting that creativity and community belong with one another. Through collaboration, we foster creativity, and when we allow ourselves to come together through this creative process, we promote community.

Possibilities

Through creativity, we also learn to embrace new possibilities and perspectives. Typically this frame of mind leaves us as we reach adulthood as it’s not intended for adults to live and think in this way. By the time we become adults, we’ve often been taught new things and influenced by society in a way that erases what we explored as kids. However, if we can find a way to revert these changes, we can explore previously unknown aspects of our potential.

Actions

Sometimes we overanalyze and spend so much time thinking about something before taking action. However, we must change our mindset and aim to empower ourselves by simply “getting out and doing it.”

Using this mindset, we can embrace the principles associated with taking risks. Remember, “the higher the risk, the higher the reward.” Learn to either fight back or retreat when you’re challenged. However, keep in mind, sometimes good stuff comes out of challenges, and it may just be worth taking action.

Final Thoughts

I’ve often heard that “creativity is a limited resource.” Through this blog and similar works, I hope to continue to challenge this idea. Creativity is infinite, and it’s always going to be a resource we can leverage and tap into.

Working as a community towards a common goal is about elevating everyone’s work and being inspired by others regardless of their status or position. We must aim to continue to do this and lead one another through creative elements together.

Every day, remember to continue to push yourself and believe in your idea by fostering our creativity.
